Thanksgiving day, 1996, Singapore, Southeast Asia…

The feast began Thursday mid-day and ended Friday, late.
The piece de resistance, a stuffed bird? Not at all…

Still recovering from a traditionally decadent Thanksgiving dinner, guests returned to the host’s kitchen the following day for a special “après turkey treat.” They watched as he gathered turkey legs, chunks of tender breast, left-over roasted vegetables, assorted beans, sweet stuffing, fresh cranberries, handfuls of fresh herbs and local chilies from Thailand and Malaysia. Several hours later, an intoxicating fragrance filled the house and Kyle’s classic turkey chili was born.

After only one bite, there was no doubt…this was no ordinary chili. Two of the guests, Cathy and Allen, with a home in Aspen, locked on to the idea of opening chili kiosks in all the major ski resorts. It was the perfect ski lunch and dinner!

A tradition had begun. It wasn’t the stuffed bird we all craved, it was the chili.

Four countries, nine Thanksgivings and a lot of left-overs later, Kyle, the banker and Allen, the retail designer, found themselves living in Boulder, Colorado. During a hike to the Flatirons it became clear to both of them that it was time to turn the dream and all the talk that went with it into a reality. A new and exciting food concept was born…the Global Chili Company…chili from around the world…chili for all seasons…

June 2004, Boulder, Colorado, research and development began. Calls went out to firms in Sydney and New York…create a logo, build our brand…Nothing was working! The call for help reached the beaches of California where Eliza and Cathy were surfing with the kids.

As they lay waiting for the perfect wave the logo began to develop…Global Chili Co. … Global Chilly Co…hot chili, cold ice cream…balance… symmetry. As the waves picked up, so did the brand.

The girls returned to Boulder with an intuitive mind, an energized body and a liberated soul!!!

June 2005 Global Chili opened its doors at its first location in Boulder and offered Chili to the People…
